3D4DEAF: Promoting digital transformation and social innovation in VET for better access of deaf students to the labour market

This newly started Erasmus+ projects has the goal of equipping educators and VET trainers/teachers
working with young people with disabilities (with a special focus on young people with hearing impairment)
with the set of competences and skills which can help disable and vulnerable students to thrive in the job
market.

The projects will help educators making their pupils digitally ready and totally equipped in terms of
competences related to ICT such as 3D printing: the acquisition of new skills essential for the appetibility
and inclusion in the labour market and will represent an added value to this vulnerable group of young
people suffering hearing related disabilities.

The project thus has as main mission the ensuring of DEAF people’ participation and inclusion within the
current labour market, to make them fully integrated within productive society.

Inclusivity in this respect has been a challenge for many EU countries and with the recent Covid19
pandemic the issue of readiness, adaptability and resilience of education has become more and more
actual. Teaching and learning has mandatory to deal with the such challenges, a pre-requisite for the
recovery of the society and the economy in such a disruptive era.

The acquisition of new skills which is fundamentally important to be included in labour market can be of
essential help to such vulnerable group of young people and it can exclusively be achieved if training staff
and educators are digitally competent and can master digital tools and advanced content for their
teachings.

To sustain VET teachers in this regard, aligned with the promotion of digital competences as purported by
the 2018 Digital Action Plan- Coding, Robotics, 3D design/printing, modelling and steam subjects, 3D4DEAF,
thanks to the expertise of its pan-European consortium –partners are in fact from Italy; Cyprus; Greece;
Poland and Spain-will produce a set of Work packages.

The project first result will be a EUROPEAN MONITORING REPORT and a 3D4DEAF DUAL TRAINING PACK
about INTRODUCING 3D TECHNOLOGIES IN TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE; then
the partners will be busy in preparing and opening a CLOUD-BASED PLATFORM AND linked MOBILE APP as
well as deliver an AUGMENTED REALITY based GAME FOR SETTING UP A SOCIAL BUSINESS.

Through the listed products and tools the consortium will deliver a highly valuable project which will
contribute, on one end, to strong innovation in vocational education and training and, on another end, to
the inclusion of a vulnerable group composed by people with hearing impairments; boosting, at the end, a
deep inclusion for all at economical and societal level.
