3D technologies for future entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship refers to an individual’s ability to turn ideas into action.

Education for entrepreneurship can be particularly effective in initial vocational training, as students are close to entering working life and self-employment may be a valuable option for them.

Moreover, according to “Entrepreneurship in Vocational Education and Training- Final report of the Expert Group”, some countries report that between 90% and 100% of vocational education students have participated in entrepreneurship programmes at some point during their vocational education path.
An analysis carried out by the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) shows a strong correlation between perceived entrepreneurial capabilities (skills) and the total early-stage entrepreneurial activity (TEA), which indicates how important education is in developing entrepreneurial competences.

The use of 3D technology in VET schools is an excellent point of reference to work on what will be considered, from here shortly, the fundamental skills to become part of the labour market.

3D printing is a technology that scientists and engineers are using to change the world. Put that same technology into the hands of students and introduce them to some of the challenges facing the community, they will learn empathy, teamwork, and problem solving as you set them loose on a real-world problem.
Don’t be surprised if they come up with solutions you hadn’t even imagined. 3D printing elevates students from being passive consumers of information on a screen with no thought given to productivity.  Unlike conventional classrooms where students are easily bored, they become active and engaged participants through the conception, the design, and execution of their projects and interacting with the 3D printer and the teacher, 3D printing promotes students’ achievements and also prepares them for college education. They develop the confidence that allows them to pursue challenging courses such as those in STEAM fields.

The potential of 3D technologies and printing is enormous for training the next generation of 3D printing users-scientist, engineers, designers, artist and many others.

An innovative approach to digital technologies related to 3D-P will be offered by 3D2ACT project!

An open cloud-based platform accompanied by a mobile APP, which will offer various functionalities such as the e-ACADEMY, the e-COMMUNITY, the e-MAPPING TOOL and many others, are the strengths of the project, which will connect VET schools’ students and teachers with new learning methodologies, with the aim of increasing their competences in the use of technology and allowing them to further exploit these skills in the business world.

Based on the above, 3D2ACT project will support not only students but also VET trainers and educators in an attempt to strengthen their profile with the acquisition of new skills, the development of targeted material, the collection of tools and resources, while at the same time it will create opportunities for linking VET schools with the labour market, building on synergies and partnerships.

The 3D2ACT HUBS will be set up in VET schools/centres/institutions utilizing the non-working time of schools and trainers. Students will be given the opportunity to acquire new skills, apply them in real-life situations. While proposing solutions to existing needs, they will design, develop and produce 3D solutions, to be exploited in the framework of initiatives with a social entrepreneurial value
