Innovative digital teaching and learning methodology
About the project
ASC4INN
The ASC4INN project (Alliance for Fostering Innovation in Education and Enterprises through Digitization of Agriculture Supply Chains) addresses the need to modernize agricultural supply-chain education and training in Europe. It aims to develop innovative capacity-building programmes for both Higher Education (HE) and Vocational Education and Training (VET), responding to the growing digital transformation of agri-food supply chains and the increasing demand for sustainability, traceability, and efficiency.
ASC4INN focuses on identifying the skills and competences required to operate in a modern, digital, and sustainable agricultural value chain. Based on a comprehensive needs assessment, the project builds specialized courses around four deep-tech domains that are reshaping the sector: robotics and drones for automation, Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain for traceability and transparency, big data and advanced analytics for data-driven decision making, and investment risk management to support the adoption of these technologies while assessing their economic feasibility. The project’s activities include the design and implementation of these new curricula, the development of advanced training materials and toolkits, and the adoption of modern learning methodologies. ASC4INN integrates blended learning supported by a central digital platform, introduces game-based learning, simulates real supply chain environments through virtual and augmented reality, and supports the recognition of competences through a micro-credential and micro-pathway accreditation framework. Pilot implementations will take place in several European countries, complemented by mobility and collaborative activities to strengthen transnational cooperation among institutions, training centers, and industry stakeholders.
Through these efforts, ASC4INN aims to deliver ready-to-use, high-quality educational programmes aligned with the evolving needs of the agri-food sector. The project contributes to equipping learners with competences in digital supply-chain management, sustainability, and data-based operations, while also fostering stronger collaboration among higher education institutions, VET providers, and enterprises, helping bridge the gap between academic training and labour-market needs. The ASC4INN consortium brings together a diverse network of universities, VET organisations, agri-food labour-market representatives, and a Europe-wide expert network. This multi-actor partnership ensures that the project’s outputs are both academically sound and relevant to real-world professional requirements.
