GODIGITAL: an opportunity for NEET

Go Digital- Digital tools for work is a strategic KA2 project under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

The kick-off meeting of GoDigital took place in Zaragoza, Spain, last month (November 2019) hosted by the project coordinator, FEUZ (Fundacion Empresa- Universidad de Zaragoza).

Partners from 7 different European countries- Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, Belgium, UK- and an associated partner participate to the consortium. All the partners are part of the European Digital Learning Network.

Go Digital’s overall objective is to tackle the issue of European NEETs – young people not in education neither in employment aged 18 to 30 years old -through digital skills development and acquisition.

In 2018, in Europe, 16, 5% of young people (approximately 15 million young people) were not enrolled in any training course or school as well were unemployed at the same time.

The NEETs’ rate is particularly high in some countries of the Union such as Italy, Greece and Bulgaria (Eurostat https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/statistics-explained/index.php/Statistics_on_young_people_neither_in_employment_nor_in_education_or_training)

The project aims at equipping such category of young people with the necessary self-awareness of their skills, mainly the digital ones, in order to help them making a fruitful use of those skills by applying them to the labour market.

Go Digital will foster young people employability by tackling the digital skills gap and competencies shortage with the purpose of increasing NEETs employability and preparation for the professional world.

The main product developed by GoDigital will be an Open Educational Resource (OER) online tool named the “Digital Skills Tool Accelerator“ on which young people will be able to find and access learning content and materials and follow a personalised educational path.
