The European Digital Learning Network is indeed a young reality, but still its journey until today has been outstanding and full of satisfactions. The wide experiences, know-how and strong relations of the involved members – which are actively committed to strengthen the voice of the network – have allowed us to become an acknowledged and influent player in the field of Education & Training. And as we just entered our third year of life, we would like to briefly step back and take a glance at our noticeable achievements in terms of projects approved under the Erasmus + funding programme, KA2.

Between 2016 and 2017, in fact, the members of DLEARN have been involved in more than 90 proposals, a huge effort which generated 30 approved projects across all Europe. Among them, DLEARN today directly participates as partner in 10 Erasmus+ projects on digital education, a figure that gives a sound proof of the network’s deep commitment in enhancing the learning opportunities of EU citizens in the digital field, giving life to the educational priorities set by Erasmus +.

2017, in particular, has been a considerable year in terms of proposals’ success rate. In fact, 8 out of our 10 current projects have been approved under the last year’s call, triggering a steady growing process and marking a true turning point for our work and engagement. Held together by the fil rouge of digital education, these eight projects cover a wide range of different sectors, offering an innovative approach which results everywhere in a strategical application of digital skills and competences for EU citizens and businesses.

  • IN PLACE aims to contribute to high quality work based VET for young people and to increase their competitiveness in labour market;
  • ANEMELO on the other hand will develop tools to help children educators teach a healthier lifestyle by recognizing and understanding subconscious messages hidden behind online advertising.
  • DIGIT deals with concepts of digital identity and online fair behaviour for adults, while
  • COUNT ME IN aims at improving civic competences of adult learners through digital tools and
  • QUALITY BLENDED LEARNING will equip educators with a quality handbook about blended learning and an interactive learning platform.

The motor of EU business and economy, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), is then addressed by the work set up by:

  • FOSS4SME, encouraging SMEs in the adoption of Free and Open Source Software to improve their digital performance and competitiveness, and
  • ROI of WBL and Apprenticeships, which proposes the development of a cost and social benefits model to allow SMEs to calculate the return on investment for apprenticeships and work-based learning supply.
  • AUREA4RURAL, furthermore, addresses the tourism sector aiming to create an innovative digital Augmented Reality platform, along with a training content in compliance with the competences required by professionals operating in this field.

The full picture is finally given by the two projects approved in 2016, which are currently entering their second year of implementation:

  • ELITE, which aims to provide digital professional learning opportunities for secondary teachers’ competence development, and
  • DIS-CODE, seeking to train students at drop out risk on improving digital skills and learning maths by studying computer coding.
