The European Digital Learning Network has lifelong learning process and strategy at its core. That is why we are pleased to announce that since the 7th of July we have become full member of the Lifelong Learning Platform. The Platform is an umbrella organisation that gathers 43 European organisations active in the field of education, training and youth, coming from all over Europe and beyond. Currently these networks represent more than 50 000 educational institutions and associations covering all sectors of formal, non-formal and informal learning. Their members reach out to several millions of beneficiaries. Moreover the Platform is acknowledged by the European Commission as a “unique representation” of lifelong learning at EU level since 2009.
Europe is facing a profound transformation of its economical and societal system. The crisis changed the paradigm in education and training. Lifelong learning process today can disband the tangle of unemployment, lack of skills, skills mismatch, ageing, youth underachievement and so on. However we have learnt that this is a never ending process. This is the reason why we should not stop learning throughout our life and the institutional system should ease this process.
From now on we will work together to “build more democratic and sustainable societies” – as the Lifelong Learning Platform states, contributing with our knowledge and experiences on digital education.
